CONTINUUMS
WORKS ON PAPER
Inspired by mid-century design, fabrics and wallpapers, these paintings from the Continuum series depict recurring patterns rendered with a deliberately handmade and intuitive attitude of exploration. Classic motifs found on vintage barkcloth from the atomic Eames era are among my sources. Mechanically rendered motifs are inverted, stretched and embellished with quirky variations until the assumed geometry becomes skewed and persistently awkward. These small works on paper are often designed to go in diptychs, triptychs and larger groups.
